AT LOCAL POST OFFICESCHRISTMAS TRAFFIC. For the foui days before Christmas the Napier Post Office handled an increase of 10,507 telegrams over the figures of 1918. The 1919 figures were: —Forwarded, 6956; received, 8289; transmitted, 4923.

The parcels handled on the four days before Christmas were: —Saturday, 409; Monday, 363; Tuesday, 422; Wednesday, 350. The stamp sales amounted' to: — Saturday, £210; Monday, £441; Tuesday, £531; Wednesday, £348. The Money Order ana Savings Bank totals are not available, as the staff have not had time to prepare a return.

The accountant stated this morning that the business, done constituted a record, easily eclipsing all previous figures.
