With the exception of a* few showers, the weather cleared after the first race, and the concluding day’s races passed off successfully. The racing provided a good afternoon’s sport, and the totalisator again handled a large sum, £36*780 being put through, as against £32,577 for -the second day last year. AUCKLAND MEETING CLUDEDAuckland, Jan. 2. The concluding day of the Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting to-day was held in fine but dull weather. The racing was excellent. Through Bed Ribbon and Heathercote falling in the Grandstand Handicap Deeley and T. Reid were both injured, the former being badly shaken. The latter had his shoulder hurt and was conveyed to the hospital. The totalisator bandied £98,719 10s. against £60,408 on the corresponding day last year. AUCKLAND TROTS. SOUTHERNER’S GOOD PERFORMANCE. The Auckland Trotting Club concluded their summer meeting at Epsom on Wednesday, the fixture being a record one in every' way. The principal event, the President’s Handicap, was won by the southern horse, Whispering Willie, .which put up a fine performance, his time lot the two miles equalling the New Zealand trotting record of 4.33 2-5. The totalisator investments of the meeting reached the total of £173,393 10/-, making an increase of £67,042 10/- over last year.
