"C.S.M.”
SOMEWHAT ON THE INCREASE
A statement with reference to the position in the Dominion -with regard to cerebro-spinal meningitis, generally knows as “C.S.M.’’ was made by the Minister for Public Health to a “Times” reporter on Friday. “It is matter for regret,” said Air. Russell, “that the cases of cerebrospinal meningitis appear to be somewhat on the' increase in New Zealand. During the month of , June seven cases were notified to the department, , five of v.'hich, widely spread were in the North Island, and two in the South. I regret to say that of the seven cases five proted fatal. The Health Department is keenly watching developments in connection with this dr* ease, and every 7 ease, is closely followed in order to ascertain the means by v.-hich the infection has been carrried.”
