There was a stormy debate in the Polish Diet when .Scheffer related the h ppenings at the anti-Jewish Pogrom at (holm. There were dreadful scenes there when the Poles stacked the women’s baths. \\ omen plunged into the water, and were compelled by men armed with rilles to emerge, whereupon many were sevt-rei* flogged by soldiers, who atempted to drive the naked women on to the streets. The women resisted and were beaten with vli;;--and rifle butts.
