TO-NIGHT’S PICTURES.
EVERYBODY’S, HASTINGS. The programme now being .screened at Everybody’s is ot exceptional interest. Viola Dana in “Kiders of the Night,” has a part for which she is specially suited, and in uie twilling climax where she is led to the gallon s, her expression of tragedy is most convincing. Tnere are many thrilling moments in the picture. Among the other films, is one of great interest entitled the “Wonderland of the West,” a good Topical Gazette, and an amusing comedy, “Whose Wife.”
MUNICIPAL THEATRE, HASTINGS
This theatre was crowded to utmost capacity last evening on the occasion of the first screening of the big seven-act superfeature “Sherlock Holmes.” Mr. William Gillette, who plays the leading role, is an actor of the highest order and is acknowledged as one of America’s foremost actors on screen and stage. Last night’s audience were brought to a pitch of intense excitement during many of the tense situations and showed their appreciation in no uncertain manner- The picture has been produced with accurate attention to detail and the numerous characters are all well chosen. As for William Gillette as “Sehrlock Holmes,” he is wonderful, he is the embodiment of all the calm reserve and inscrutable foresight that the whole world associates with this most famous detective. The tense situations, the thrilling climaxes, the exciting intrigue and the breathless suspense of this the most famous detective drama have been acclaimed throughout England and America by huge audiences with almost hysterical interest and a stampede of approval. “Sherlock Holmes” can only be shown once again, to-morrow night, and should on no account be missed. Intending patrons would be well advised to book their seats
