CAUSE OF THE RIOTS. London, March 18. Lord Curzon, in the House of Lords, explaining the riots in Egypt, said a deputation of Nationalists called at the British Presidency, advocating complete autonomy, leaving Britain only the right to supervise the public debt, and the Suez Canal and shipping. The Prime Minister and Minister oi Education declined an invitation to visit London unless the Nationalist Leaders were included. Tho Ministers resigned, and the Nationalists endeavoured to prevent the formation of a new Ministry. The Sultan appealed to the High Commissioner for protection, thereupon four Nationalist leaders were arrested and deported. Riots followed in Cairo and elsewhere, organised cbielly by students and aided by the town rabble. There were some casualties and a tew looters were shot. The situation is well in hand.
