The many friends of Mr. IV. E. Campbell, bniahu road, one of the unlucky sufterers from the recent motor collision at the Longlands crossing, near Hastings, will be glad to hear that he is making favourable progress towards recovery, though, owing to the nature of Ins injuries, it will necessarily he some consider able time before he is able to lie about again. Lieut,-Colonel Powles, D. 5.0., C. M.G., is returning to New Zealand in command of a draft of returning soldiers in the s.s. Ajana. He left New Zealand with the Main Body in October, 1914, being the Brigade Major in charge of the men on board the Athenic. Lieut.-Colonel Powles was attached to Defence Headquarters in Palmerston North before the war.
