MATERNITY HOME AND COTTAGE HOSPITAL.

The committee appointed by the Hastings borough Council to enquire into the scheme proposed by Cr. N. Beamish regarding the acquisition of a site for the erection of a Maternity Home and Cottage Hospital for Hastings, met yesterday. Mr. 11. lan Siinson (Mayor) was elected permanent chairman. Cr. Beamish wrote resigning his seat on the committee. —Accepted with regret. The Minister in charge of Hospitals (Hon. G. W. Bussell) wrote, stating that he was prepared to favourably consider the proposal to establish a Maternity Hospital in Hastings, and also a Cottage Hospital for emergency observation eases, under the control of the Napier Hospital Board who could appoint a local committee of .management. If £l(>,00(' were collected to purchase land and to erect buildings, the dilliculty would be largely solved.
