COAL SHORTAGE

It is understood that the coal situation in Britain is more sc nous than is generally realised. The Government proposes to lay the facts befoie the country. It is admitted (.hut the ’ coal ration won’t meet ordinary , needs, but Government hopes the (people will endeavour to do with le'-s i than the ration owing to increasing French and American requirement. ' The Miners Federation meets on August 21st to consider ways of increasing the output.—(A. and N.Z.)
