The Russian newspaper “isievestia” states that the Soviet Government has been overthrown in nuuiy towns and replaced by Social Revolutionary 7 Councils. The well-known Bolshevik leader, Olschensky, was killed at Kazan. There was much bloodshed among ! Bolsheviks in the Ryazan and Nov I gorod districts, where the Bolshevik , organisation is practically broken. The “Osservatore Romano” announces that the Pope is negotiating for the Czarina and Grand Duchesses’ release undertaking to provide for their financial support.—(A. and N.Z.) FINLAND. BRITISH ASSURANCES. Stockholm, Aug. 11. The British Minister has handed to the Finnish Minister the Government’s reply to the Finnish Government’s complaints. The reply denies that the British Government has supported any party during the Finnish revolution, or that the Allied military authorities cooperated with the Red Guards. The reply adds that Great Britain does not intend to assist any Russian army to enter Finland or support civil war in Finland. The Allies sent troops to the Murman coast in order to maintain connection with Russia and prevent the Germans gaining a submarine base there. The Allies have no intention to annex the Murrnan coast or any 7 1 part of Russia. A Copenhagen message states that a large force of I’innish Red Guards are now occupied in fortifying the Russian side of the border. EASTERN SIBERIA. CANADA SENDS EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. The Government has announced that Canada will be represented by a military unit of approximately four thousand men in the Allied Expeditionary 7 Force Siberiawards. — (Argus). GROWING STRENGTH OF THE CZECHS. Amsterdam, Aug. 12. The “Berlin Tageblutt” states that the Czecho-Slovaks have increased to 300,000.
