THE EFFICIENCY BOARD’S WORK.

APPOINTMENT OF TRUSTEES. AT NAPIER. A meeting of. business men, convened by the Napier Chamber ol Commerce was held yesterday afternoon for the purpose of appointing trustees as requested by the Effici-' ency Board, the work of such trustees being to look after the businesses of men on active service. Mr. C. H. Edwards, president of the Chamber, occupied the chair. There was a very large number present. A circular was read, in which it was stated that the objective of a. Board of Trustees was either to carry on a soldier’s business until his return, or to carry on till the business could be disposed of without the loss which would necessarily occur if a rushed sale was affected. Mr John Payne, M.P. said it was made quite clear in Parliament that the Trustees Board was solely to protect the interests of soldiers on active service. '■ On the motion of Mr J. V. Brown, M.P. it was decided to set up a Board of Trustees with four members, one to represent the farmers in the immediately surrounding district. The following board was appointed.—Town of Napier, Messrs R. Williams, N. Kettle and R. L. Paterson, Taradale district, Mr W. G. Jarvis.
