Offen, plasterer, Hastings. J. C. Rule, jockey, Hastings. EFFICIENCY BOARD. SYMPATHETIC WITH LABOUR. Dunedin, May, 4. Referring to the Otago Labour Council’s protest as to lack of labour representation of the Efficiency Board, Sir James Allen states that the matter has been considered in all its aspects and it was impracticable and averse to the object of the establishment of boards to appoint representatives wholly in the interests of one class. The Board had to view the question of efficiency from a national standpoint, and its recommendations to cabinet showed that the members are alive to the interests of labour, and were very sympathetic with labour.
