| (Own Correspondent.) ■ Messrs. Horne and Tonkin, HastI ings, have purchased “Lonehand” farm, Eisthorpe, tne property of Mr.' ■ 'l'nos- Pepper. Mr. Horne will re--1 side on the farm and manage it.' A large, number of residents here met Mr. and Mrs. T. Pepper and family in tne Town Hall last Friday ! evening at a social and dance to say ! good-bye to them on tne occasion of i nieir leaving the district, where they I have resided tor at) years. On bej half of the residents, Mr. A. Gilj nioiir presented Mr. aiid Mrs. Pepper with a silver teapot and hot-water ' jug and a case ot pipes, and Miss ! ida Pepper with a gold bangle. Air. I Gilmour said that Mr. Pepper, as a farmer, was thorough and methodical, and these qualities, combined with close attention to his business had contributed to his success as a farmer. Mrs. Pepper was an excellent helpmate to tier husband, and was a devoted mother to her large family. Misses Ida, and Annie Fepper were interested in church work, the former as a teacher, and superintendent of the Sunday Sj bool for many years, and the latter as j se.cietary of the Bible Class. They also had been active in war relief I work. The recipients suitably re--1 plied. Songs were interspersed with ; dances. Air. T. B. Haycock was M.C. The. ladies provided supper I and a pleasant evening was spent.
