Lain, ih.yd, McGibbon. Ruben.•.halve. Thomson, Webb, and Dobi son (secretary). ' letter tins received from tlie Napier Chamber of Commerce with leierence to tlit* postponement of holding Territorial camps .the months of March and April oxving to the staffs of business firms .being depleted through so many ■ men being away on active Service. — It was resolved, on the motion ■ f Messrs. MeNicol and Bain, “Th.-it this chamber, while fully in sympathy with the proposal, but in view .ol the decision of the Minister >f .Defence that he cannot see his way t-e endorse the proposal put forxvard by the Napier Chamber, take no action in the matter, but if it is proposed to take any further action will be p.- iiared to assist iu any way Possible, .Tne Dannevirke A. and P. Association wrote intimating that if was proposed to hold a meeting to consider the question of organising labour to assist the farmers and ask- , ing the chamber for its eo-opei’ation. i —Mr. Dobson moved that the president, with whom tlie matter had originated, be appointed to represent the, chamber at the meeting.— Seconded bv Mr. AV ebb and carried. It xvas decided to xvrite the de- i fence authorities requesting that a ' returned soldier or some other person should be in attendance at the local office in the absence of the staff officers. Mr. Bain moved. “That this chamber strongly’ advocates that the Waikaromoana electrical sohetne be brought prominently before flie . Government as serving the interests ' of a great niiiiiher of towns in The North Island than any other similar source of electricity in the North Island of Nexx' Zealand.” —Seconded by Mr Dobson and carried.
