Wellington. Feb. 13. Die position on the waterfront today is much the same as yesterday, life Wanganui boats are being worked but the Victoria from .Napier is still idle, as the men declined to unload her. THE ISOLATION OF GISBORNE. Gisborne's “splendid” isolation has been the theme of many a traveller’s tale, but from present indications local residents are likely to suffer from an overdose of is.o.ation as the result of vessels being held up at other ports in consequence of tnc waterside dispute. As far as ran be seen at present there is no possibility of a steamer either from nuchlami or Napier until next week, there ts already a nonceable shortage ot hour, sugar ana potatoes owing to vessels carrying on tneir cargo last week, but the position is not regarded as serious in ilia meantime. The mails arc seriously disoiganised but business people arc using me te.cgrapliGisborne, i’eb. .13.

Gisborne is complete.y isolated in consequence of trie shipping disorganisation. No southern mails nave 1 ren received for several days, anti tneiu io 110 prospect of any unless the steameic run. A large number of men assembled to-day for medical examination but 1 i< Medical Board was unable to get here. The board left Napier by motor car this morning but rain having set in was unable to get through. The Appeal board, winch is also ' from AVairoa, was unable to get here. Alerchants report a shortage of hour, sugar and potatoes. There are sumprospects of the bread supply ceasing in a few days unless the steamers i-_-sume.
