MILITARY PREPARATIONS.

A Bill appropriating £30,000,000 was introduced in Congress for the purpose of facilitating quick delivery of warships under construction and the delivery of naval supplies. ENEMY SHIPS DAMAGED. URVTER R TELEGRAMS I (Received 7, 1.55 p.m.) Honolulu, Feb. 6. The machinery of nine German merchantmen in the harbour has been disabled. The crew’s have now’ been placed on the immigration station.
GERMANY AND HOLLAND. EXPORTS BARRED. (Received 7. 1.55 p.m.) The Hague, Feb. 6. It is reported from Germany'that all exports from Germany to Holland will be prohibited from the 16th inst. SWITZERLAND DECLINES WILSON’S ADVICE [austpit.tan AND N.Z. cable assn.] (Received 7, 1.55 p.m.) Berne. Feb. 6. Switzerland has refused President Wilson’s invitation to follow his lead.
WESTERN FRONT. THE FRENCH REPORT. (Received 7. 2.20 pm.) ‘ London, Feb. 6. A French communique states that the enemy, after a violent bombardment. attacked north-west of the forest of Parroy. in Lorraine. A detachment penetrated our first line but was immediately driven out.
Our after artillery preparation, penetrated the German trenches at three points in the region of Aspach, north-west of Altkirch, in Alsace, and we wrecked their works.
