MOTOR LAUNCH FATALITY.

TWO MEN DROWNED. Christchurch, Feb. 7. Phillip Fluerty and Chas Herd of Sumner, left in the motor launch Kini to fish for groper off Pigeon Bay yesterday, and failed to return. A "heavy south-westerly wind was blowing? Information has been received that the men were discovered in an exhausted condition by a steamer making for Lyttelton. The steamer had towed them to within two miles of the Heads, when heavy seas swamped the boat which disappeared with its occupants. An hour’s search failed to find any trace of the boat or the men. Fluerty, who was married, leaves a widow and five young children. He was bandmaster to the Sumner band. Herd was married and leaves a widow and two young children.
