BRITISH WESTWARD OF HAL [HIGH COMMISSIONER’S MESSAGE. J (Received 7, 9.15 a.m.) London, Feb. 6. A Mesopotamia official report states :—As the result of Saturday’s successful assault the enemy evacuated the whole of the south bank of the Tigris east of the Hai junction. We are now occupying also a considerable part westward of the Hai. The enemy suffered severely _in the recent fighting, 600 dead being counted.
