It was decided to have an open-air meeting in Hastings on Saturday evening, the 10th. jnst., when it was hoped that, with the assistance of the Hastings Band and leading citizens, there would be a successful disposal of tickets. Holders of tickets for sale are reminded that it is desirable to have all butts in the hands of the committee not later than the morning of the 16th. The attention of the general public is specially directed to this feature of the drawing of the art union. It will take place at the Municipal Theatre, Hastings, on the evening of the 16th, at 9 o’clockThe early part of the evening. will be devoted to attractive musical items, commemorative of the twenty-fourth anniversary of . Mrs. T. AV. Lewis’ enjoyable and historical 1/- “pops.” This alone should be an incentive to more than fill the house, for possibly throughout the Dominion there is no one more entitled to the plaudits and the thanks of the community for her two years’ artistic entertainments than the lady referred to. The people of Hastings and its environs are loyal and patriotic, and it is believed that this will be fully demonstrated between now and the J6th. The. art union tickets are only one shilling, and by purchasing one you are giving your “widow’s mite” to the deserving and have also the chance of acquiring ten prizes ranging in value from £lO to £4OO.
