THE COUNTY CHAIRMAN.
WEDNESDAY’S ELECTION. On Wednesday next the County Council will elect its chairman for the ensuing year, and according to information obtained by a “Tribune” reporter the present County chairman (Mr. T. E. Crosse) will, if he is willing, be re-elected. Mr. Crosse was elected a member of the Hawke's Bay County Council on June 20th, 1901, to represent the Heretaunga riding, filling the vacancy caused at that time by the resignation of the late Mr. J. N. Williams. Since his election, Mr. Crosse has displayed a keen interest in county matters, and has on more than one occasion occupied the chair. In 19071908 he held the reins, and his present term of chairmanship covers nearly two years. Many years before becoming a member of the H.B. County . Council, Mr. Cro«se interested himself in local bodies’ work in southern Hawke’s Bay; he has, in fact, made county work his principal hobby, and his re-election has again and again proved that he has the confidence of the ratepavers.
