OBITUARY.

F. C. TIPPING. A popular and well known citizen of Hastings, in the person of Mr. F. C. Tipping, passed away a t hi B residence, Avenue road, at an early hour this morning. Deceased, who had been ailing for some time, was seventy four years of age. He was a native of Dublin, and came to New Zealand fifty six years ago, settling in the Auckland province. Two years later he went to Canterbury, and followed fanning pursuits there for thirty years. The late Mr. Tipping subsequently came to Hawke’s Bay and was appointed manager of Messrs Nelson Bros’ business at Waipukurau, and later managed Messrs Williams and Kettle’s business in Hastings. He gave this up to go into business with . Mr. R. Brathwaite, subsequently going into partnership with his son, Mr. C. Tipping, a business he successfully carried on up to the time of his death. During his twenty four years’ residence in Hawke’s Bay, the late Mr. Tipping had identified himself in all matters appertaining to the general welfare and progress of the district. He was a man of sterling integrity, and was held in high esteem by all classes of the community. Deceased leaves one daughter (Mrs. A. C. Lean), and two sons (Mr. C. Tipping) and anoliier son who is now in Australia. Bis wife predeceased him some years ago. The interment will be private.
