VALEDICTORY A Strangers’ te£ was held at the Y.M.C.A, rooms yesterday, when farewell was. said . to, Mr. Q. Smith, a member ©f-the Association, who leaves with the 2&rd .Reinforcements. Mr. W. H. Herd (chairman of Directors) , presided over-a large attendance. Eulogistic remarks commenting on the good work done by Mr. Smith and expressing best wishes for his future welfare, were made by His Worship the Mayor, Mr. W. Hart, and Messrs P. Lascelles, J. Fear, R, E. Barley, F. Kelly, R. Campbell, W. Pethick, J. Paui, F. Musson, the assistant secretary F. E. Barley and the chairman. The hymn “God be with you till we meet again” fittingly- concluded an impressive gathering. A vote of condolence was passed to Mr. and Mrs. Saywell in the loss of their eldest son Roy, who died from wounds on October 19th.
