Comiftenting on the report of the special committee of the Auckland City Council, which has had in hand the matter of a new Town Clerk s presented at Thursday evening’s meeting of the City Council, the Mayor this morning stated that the committee had made no recommen* dation, for the simple reason that inits opinion it had not been able to find a suitable appointee. “We are not going to make a recommendation for the sake of making a change,” added the Mayor, when asked if the report presented the end of the labours of the special committee.
