AERIAL WARFARE.
BRITISH NAVAL BALLOON. FALLS BURNING IN NORWAY. [AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSN.] London, Nov. 4. An observation balloon afire came down in Norway. It ft believed that it belonged to a British warship patrolling the North Sea. The crew were burned to death. A RHODES SCHOLAR KILLED. I REUTER’S TELEGRAMS-1 (Received 6, 9.10 a.m.) Perth, Nov. 6. Mr. Whiteman, last year’s Westralian Rhodes’ scholar, has been killed in England. He was training in the Royal Flying Corps for military service. ZEP. COMMANDER’S BLUNDER [AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSN.] Amsterdam, Nov. 4. Germany apologised to Holland for the flight of the Zeppelin over Dutch territory on the 22nd. It is explained that it was owing to motor difficulties, the vessel being obliged to drop two benzine tanks. The commander of the airship thought he was over Belgian territory.
