Mr. M’illiam Scott, of Queen street, Hastings, to-day received advice that, on the 2t)th Private George Richard Wesley Scott, who left with the 'Wellington, Infantry Battalion of the 7th Reinforcements, has been wounded. The members of the Auckland Crown Lands Board have placed on record their sympathy and condolence with the Commissioner, Mr. H. M. Sheet, in connection with the death of his son, who was recently killed in action in France. In acknowledging the sentiments expressed by the members, Mr. Skeet said he was very proud that he had had a son who could answer the call of the Empire and give up bis life for it if necessary. Second-Licutemint Alan Miller, of the Yorkshire Regiment, son, of the former Chief Inspector of , Post Offices in New Zealand, has died of wounds.—A:Press Association.
