L. H. Hewitt has returned to Riccarton after an absence of ten years;from the land where his horsemanship won him the first place among jockeys oi his time. Hewitt served a strenuous (apprenticeship to hi. chosen calling,, but he ' ahvays had, and still retains, an inexhaustible fund of energy and a keen inteibgence, that soon enabled him to “make good’’, as a jockey.
