The “Standard” announces that the Government is withdrawing General Maxwell from Ireland at the end of November when the present conditions of the Irish Government will be revised. MR. GINNELL GOES TO PRISON. [AUSTRALIAN 4NIJ N.Z CABLE ASSN.] (Received 2, 12.15 a.m.) London. Nov. 1. Mr. ~L. Ginnell, independent Nationalist member for Westmeath, has been imprisoned for non-pay-ment of a fine. [Mr. Ginnell was convicted and ordered io pay- a fine under the Defence of the Realm Act on a charge of entering Knutsford prison under a false name to interview Sinn Fein prisoners. A cable on October 11th stated that the Appeal Court upheld the con victim), but the fine by one-half. Mr. Ginnell declared he would not pay a yenny—he preferred to go to prison.]
