WAIRARAPA SHOW.

TO-MORROW AND THURSDAY. The catalogue of entires for the 29th Wairarapa and East Coast Show to be held at Carterton tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday is to hand from the secretary. The Dominion wide popularity of this show is manifested by the way in ■ which the entries make good in comparison with those of previous years, notwithstanding the depressing effect the war is known to have ion show fixtures By the catalogue we notice that the leaping competitions and dog trials entries are good and other competitions are quite up to the average. In the horse classes hacks are very good, draughts are better than usual, but. other horse classes are not quite so good. In cattle, Shorthorns are about the same as usual, and in Holsteins, and Jerseys the competition is very strong. Milking classes are also very strong. There are no Polled Angus this year, but there is competition in Herefords which have not been shown at the show for some years, lu the sheep classes, Lincolns and Romneys are particularly strong, while Southdowns are as usual and farmers’ fats are very much above the average. In pigs there is a very fine exhibition, including pens from Hastings and also from the Porirua Mental Hospital. The number of entries in the dog classes are above the average. In the produce sheds the competition in grain, butter and cheese is about the average. The number of competitors in the cooking classes is, however, lower than has been the case for some time, while the sewing, fancywork and school children’s exhibits are about the same as they have been for some years. Quite a number of Hawke’s Bay settlers are attending the show, and given fine weather there is every reason to anticipate that the Wairarap Show this year will beat ail previous records in the way of attendance.
