During,last session Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., brought tinder the notice of the Minister of Mines the desirability of an inspection of an outcrop of coal near Otiwa. King Country. This has been made by departmental officers, and it is understood the report is an excellent one as regards the quality of the coal, size of seams, and suitability of getting to market. The member has written to the Government, asking that the mine be opened as a State coal mine.

The hull was insured against all risks for £Bl,OOO, and, in addition, there were amounts places against the risk of total loss only and on homeward freight, etc., total insurances in connection with the ship to about £170,000, and raising the sum involved in the casualty to not far short of £700,000.”
