HASTINGS BOROUGH COUNCIL. NOTICE OF DATE OF POLLING ON

REFERRING to an advertisement appearing in the “ Hawke’s Bay Tribune ” on the 19th and 26th June and the 3rd and 10th July, 1916, setting forth the proposal of the Hastings Borough Council to borrow the sum of £13,600 for the purposes (for the provision of Sewer Extensions, Pumping Station, purchase or acquisition of lands through which to lay sewer and water, extensions, etc.) as set out in the said advertisement. I HEREBY GIVE PUBLIC NOTICE that a Poll of the Ratepayers (including all other persons entitled to vote on Proposals to raise Loans) wil] be taken at the undermentioned’ places which I hereby appoint Polling Places for the purposes of the said Poll on WEDNESDAY, the 19th day of July, 1916. between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., namely:—

FTVHE Council of the Borough of Hastings hereby give notice that the said Council propose to borrow by way of Special Loan within the meaning of “ The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913,” and under the authority of “ The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” and its amendments the sum of £B,BOO to be expended for the following purpose, namely:— For the purchase and installation of a new Diesel Engine and Generator, Switch Board and Instruments, Fuel Tank with Motor. Pump, and Piping, Engine Lathe and Chuck, Extensions to Power Station* Building, Foundation for and cost of erecting Plant £8,120 Contingencies and cost of raising the Loan £6BO £B,BOO

Tlie Council propose to pledge a Special Rate of | of a penny in the £ on the rateable value, on the basis of the Unimproved Value, on all rateable property in the Borough, as security for the said Loan and the Interest thereon, and for a Sinking Fund of 1 per cent. The Interest will be at a rate not exceeding Five and a-half per centum per annum.

It is proposed that the whole amount of the Loan shall be repayable at the expiration of a term not exceeding Thirty-six and a-half years, computed from the date of raising the said Loan.
