TROTTING. M ETROPOLTT AN WINTER MEETING. Christchurch. Aug. 0. There is dull weather but the going is good for the opening of the Metropolitan Trotting Club’s winter meeting. There is an average attendance. Results:—

Belgium Handicap. — Whisth I. Chub 2, Mushroom 3. Scratched • Truganini, Mandor. and Navigator. The winner took charge half a mile from homo and won by two lengths, eight lengths between second and third. Time 3.47.
Queen Mary Handicap.--Hesita-tion I. The Bronzewing '2. Specification Junr 3. Celtic. Ellawood. Clarihcl and Queen's Drive were scratched. The winner led throughout and won easily by four lengths. A length divided second and third horses. Time. Imin. 19 -l-jbec.
August Handicap -Ualm !. I’oinmy (’ 2. Jewel ( himes 3. Edith. ,A Prince, and Akvvuod were scratched. Al the cud of six furlongs Tommy I took charge with Jewel Chimes a b-iiuth away.
