The Director of the Napier Technical College thanked the conned for grant.—Received. T. T. McCarthy agreed to assist in selecting books for Municipal Library.—T<> lie thanked. The Napier Harbour Board stated that the contract for the re-erection of the C.D.K. dredge expired on September 17.—Received. The Greenmeadows Observatory forwarded report with regard to the climate of Napier. — Received; Marist Brothers to be thanked. It was also decided to get 20,000 or 30.000 copies of the report printed and arranged in a booklet form. G. S. V. Wenlev, secretary of the National Reserve, asked for an arc lamp to be erected in the vacant section of Clive Square. —The Mayor reported that this had been done. D. B. Frame, architect, askerl permission to erect suspension verandah on the City Buffet.—Refused. G. R. Foreman and Co. asked for alteration of the council’s contract vvith them.—Referred to the Finance ; Committee.

Rev. ! Archdeacon Ruddock requested remittance of water rates on property in .Burlington road.—Referred to Waterworks Committee. The Matron, Bethany Home, requested remittance of water rates. — Ileferred to Waterworks Committee. E. M. Ingram requested permission to connect residence with Borough Park well.—Referred to the Waterworks Committee with power to act.

Mrs. J. C. McFarlane offered a piece of land to widen the corner at Gladstone and Clyde roads. —Referred to Roads Committee for report. W. H. Tylee and others stating that the corner at the junction of Elizabeth and Lighthouse roads had b- en widened.—To be thanked. J.. S. McClurg drew attention to the state of the water channel in George street. —Referred to Roads Committee vvith power to act. The Rev. T. Tait, secretary of the Ministers’ Association, asked for use of Municipal Theatre for service for men leaving for the camp on the 17th. —Referred to Theatre Committee with power to act. John Griffin asked that an inspection be made of building in Clive Square that, is at present being renovated. —Granted.

William Ward objected to the report of the Public Health Inspector re state of building in Napier South. —Letter to he forwarded to Public Health Officer.

IL M. Didsbury thanked the council for the use of the Municipal Theatre, and asked that the rent be given to the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund.—Request to be complied with. G. C. Clothier asked when water would be procurable at the corner of Carnell street and George’s drive. — Referred to “Waterworks Committee with power to act. G. A. Fairbrotlier offered to donate, io a Napier institution, a life-sized oil portrait of the late Inspector Scully.—To be thanked, painting to be placed in theatre. C. Melby complained that the engines of the power house caused a nuisance to his house, and also that the continued vibration was damag-
