Leaders of all classes. pulit iciatis. church dignitaries, university pro lessors, busine-' men. heads <4 labour organisations anil prominent women are taking an active part in the recruiting campaign. Further modifications of th- physical standard have been made : s an additional fillip to recruiting. A national servt-e movement h.t' been started in Sidney I niversity. the bulk of the professorial and instructional staffs having volunteered gratuitously to place their spare time and services at the disposal ul tht military authorities in whatever capacity may be allot ted. NOTES FROM VARIOUS STATES A man named Uaiinoml I'.ums was fined £3O at S.'dm-i n.r Inning possession of an apparatus, capable of tapping wireless mt sages.
