THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY
SERVICES AT ORMONDVILLE (() vv n ( on a--) a i ii< let 11.) A special intercession service was held in the local Anglican < hiireli on Wednesday morning, the Iv'V. J. L. Mackay officiating. Although the day was fine, the attendance was not as large as anticipated. Ihe I'rieildly Societies were very poorly represented, and tlie few who were present did not wear I'cgalia. It is to be regretted that more members did not try to be present on such a great occasion as this. The Rev. J. L. Mackay conducted the service, and was ably assisted by the Rev. J. Harvey, of 'Xorsewood. The Rev. Mr. Maekav apologised for the absence of the Rev. Mr. Oliver, ef Norsevvood. and read a letter from tiie Rev. Father Travers, of Takapau. stating be regretted he was unable t<> be present. The Ormondville Town Board was represented by_ Messrs. N.. Nikolaisen and If. J- Newling. The ministers offered up prayers lor tlie Allies and special hymns were sung. A’ery touching and ttppropriate sermons, given by both the iiunistcrs. were attentively listened t - . , ■ At the conclusion ot tlie service Air. Nikolaisen moved the determination resolution, which was carried unanimously. Tiie National Anthem was then sung. Miss A\ ebb officiated at tlie organ. ... . A collection in aid of the AAounded Soldiers’ Fund realised .£5 5 .
AT NORSEWOOD
Tin re was a large attendance at the combined intercession service held in ihe Presbyterian Church on AVednesday evening. The officiating ministers were the Revs. \A. J. liarvev (Presbyterian), and J. Oliver (Methodist) and Pastor Legarth (Lutheran). An apology received from the Rev. J. L. AL Alackay. Special hymns were snug and prayers were oiiered to bring ihe war to a speedy end in favuttr of the Allies. Tlie ministers present delivered addresses suitable for the ’occasion. At the conclusion of thi' service. Air. J. Chicken (chairman of the Norsewood Town Board) proposed the motion received from the Primy Al blister, which was carried ttnaninntslv.
The services were brought to a. dose with the singing of the National Anthem. A collection in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund was taken up and £3 was subscribed. Ab—. Bagiev presided at the organ.
