As a result of an auction held in Takapau on Saturday. Mr. A. E. Renouf, of Napier, officiating as auctioneer, the Belgian Relief Fund will benefit to the extent of about £l2O. A Union Jack, which was submitted, realised £35. whilst a Bel gian flag brought £l5, Mr. Sydney Johnston, of Oruawharo, being the purchaser in each case after keen competition.
Miss E. Goldfinch, of Napier, is at present on a visit to Takapau. Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Stevens are at present on a visit to Wellington.. Miss C. Fountain, of who has been spending several days in Takapau. returned home by the mail train on Tuesday. Miss Cogswell, left for Napier by the mail train on Tuesday.
Mr. S. S. Viles, formerly of the local railway staff, passed through on the express train on Tuesdav- on relief duty at Hastings. Several local school girls sold buttonholes on Saturday last for the Belgian Relief Fund. Thev collected £3 1-1 3.
