FOODSTUFFS AND MERCHANDISE.
APPEAL TO THE DOMINIONS
SEND YOI R ORDERS IN. London. Aug. U’. The Association of Chambers of Commerce has issued an appeal to the overseas dominions. It says that within the past week a wry large number of orders for goods have been cancelled or reduced m volume or delivery postponed. Possibly this is due to a tempo) ary advance in the price of money or an uncertainty regarding war risks. The Government has now provided against both. The association therefore appeals to trailers not only to confirm orders but to increase them. The Mother Country has a large mass of industrial population and manufacturers are doing their best to keep them in employment. They cannot succeed if their customers suspend orders or delay payment of goods already ship ped. The association is satisfied that if their kinsmen overseas know the facts they will not overlook tins practical means of assisting.
