B SQUADRON’S DEPARTURE.
GREAT ENTHUSIASM AT HASTINGS.
The send-off accorded the members of B Squadron (Ninth) Wellington Mounted Rifles, who left Hastings by the 3.50 train yesterday afternoon to join the Expeditionary Force, was marked by the greatest enthusiasm. The railway platform was densely packed with people, and as someone was overheard to remark, it was u puzzle to know where all the crowd, camo from. The Mayor (Mr. W. Hart) addressed the men on the plat - form and said he felt mire they would uphold the honour of the town in a manner worthy of tree Britons. Mrs. Ingram then presented each member of the contingent with a tin of coffee and milk. There was a deafening outburst of cheering r.s the train moved out nnd the men appeared to lie in the best of spirits.
The detachment consisted of the following :--Lieutenant A. Georgetti, Corporals Lucas, li, Hatherall, E. 11. Burr. Trumpet**!- H. Hyde, Privates T. Carroll, J. J Austin, W. J. McKenzie, (). C. B. Clarkson, N. R. J nmieson, A. Howard, G. Martin Smith, J Elson and Farrier O'Con*
The following members of B Squadron from Wairoa were also on hoard the train .- -Sergeant Briwn, Corporal Ebbett. Privates Stacey and Bullard.
