Last week, in Sydney, after the announcement of Britain s declaration of war with Germany the German Band that usually provides light operatic airs or ragtime melodies surprised the citizens by playing the “Marseillaise” and “Rule Britanrdt.” Finally th players concluded their programme with “God Save the King,” and were enthusiastically cheered by the crowd.
