The rebels advanced and fought hotly round the trenches and the Federate fled, some crossing the American border. Ojinaga was evacuated after considerable loss of life.

The rebels are now occupying the last stronghold whereon Huerta relied in Northern Mexico.

General Mercudo, Huerta’s military chief, crossed the river and surrendered to the United States troops.
