TAKAPAU STOCK SALE. The opening sale ar rhe Takapau yards took place yesterday. There was a representative attendance of buyers and a large entry of sheep. Only a few cattle came forward. There was a better tone in the market, although there was no appreciable difference in prices. The various brokers report as follows: — Dalgety and Company. BURNSIDE STOCK SALE. Dunedin. March 12. There was a large yarding of fat cattle at Burnside to-day, 183 being penned. Competition was fairly keen, but prices were 10 - per head lower than those ruling last wook. Best bullocks £l3 5 - to £l4, good £lO 10'to £l2, medium £8 to £9, best cows and heifers £lO to £ll 10/-, good £8 t<; £9/s'-. medium £6 15 '- to £7 10 -. There was a good-sized yarding of fat sheep, 2076 being penned. The entry included a good proportion of good quality sheep. Freezing buyers had their limits reduced, and consequently competition was almost entirely confined to butchers. Prices were about 1 - lower than last week’s rates. Best wethers 23 3. good 18 - to 21'6. medium 16 - :<> 17,6, extra heavy ewes 24 9, heavy 18/6 to 22 6, medium 12 - to 15 -. Fat lambs penned . numbered 1606. The quality generally was not very good, and prices ruled much the same as last week. Best 18 '- to 19/6, good 16/- to 17 6, medium 12/6 to’l4/-.
