THE ADDINGTON MARKET. Christchurch, Man'll 12. At the Addington live stock market there were large entries of stock and a good attendance. Fat cattle sold at the previous v. eck's rates. Fat la .-bs were easier in re n sequence of the rush of stock at the Feezing works. Store sheep .sold well, especially ewes, lambs, except forward lots, being a little easier. Fat sheep were irregular, but sold at about last week's prices. There was a large entry of fat lambs totalling ”749, the bulk being well-grown and of prime quality. Prices paid were about equal to 5d to sjd per lb. Best lambs made 1(5 - to 19 7. a lew extra to 21 -. lighter 13 3 to 15 6.
There were about 4000 fat .sheep penned, made up chiefly of ewes with a few pens of prime wethers and several lines of wethers. The hinge of prices was as follows:—Prime wethers 18/- to 21 I|. lighter 117 to 17’6. merino wethers 12 - to 15 -. extra prime rives to 25 -, prime i<> - to 21 ’-. medium 13 6 to 15 6. aged and light JO - to 13
There was an entry of 2-~>2 fat cattle as compared with 191 last week. Prices showed no change, being equal to 22.6 to 30 - per 1001 b. according to quality. Steers made £9 to £l3 7 6. heifers £6 to £lO s<-. and cows £> 17>6 to £lO 12 6.
Store cattle formed a fair yarding, but prices were easier. Fifteen to 18month sorts made £.3 to £3/I?.'-. twoyear steers £4'6/-, 2J-year steers £>s 12/6. 2-year heifers £3 10 - to £4 2/6, and 3-year cow s £4/1(1- to £ll5 -. There was a medium entry of fat pigs, but a good demand, and the prices from last week were maintained. Choppers ran from £3 TO'- to £5. baconer.s 50/- to 55.'-, heavy pigs 57 6 to 70/-. Prices equalled 5d to s{-d per lb. Porkers brought: Heavy 42/- to 47/-, lighter kinds 36 to 40 -. equal to sijd to 6d per lb. Medium stores made? 30'- to 37 -. smaller 22 - to 28.-. weaners 8 - to 18/-.
STORTFORD LODGE SALE. There was a considerable yarding of sheep at the Stortfortl Lodge sale yesterday, but no cattle came forward. Owing to the wet weather, the attendance was pool', and sheep, generally speaking, were dull of sale. No doubt •sellers were looking for better prices, owing to the present change in the weather, and are holding their sheep in anticipation of an improvement in value. The respective brokers report as follows:—
