NAPIER CRIMINAL SESSIONS. (Before his Honour the Chief Justice. Sir Robert Stout.) WEDNESDAY. AN UNNATURAL OFFENCE. James David Clifton was charged with committing an unnatural offence at Hastings on January 14th. The following jury was enipannel- . cd: John Henry Corne, J. L. Black. H. J. Lawrence. Arthur Oliver, J. S. T. Ennor. R. J. Morrissey, H. Gascoyne, A. Burr, F. Jennings, R. W. Hansard, R. Crerar, and Percy Hansard. Mr. R. N. Hansard was appointed foreman. Mr. Cornford appeared for the Crown and Mr. Dolan for the defence. The case was outlined briefly by the Crown Prosecutor as an assault against a boy. SENTENCES. H. A. M. Murison was admitted to 12 months' probation upon his conviction for supplying a noxious drug. A native named Mahanga Haora was sentenced to 18 months' probation on a charge of thejt. In each case costs were permitted to be paid in monthly instalments, the amount in Murison’s case was fixed at £lO. CIVIL BUSINESS. Civil cases were arranged for hearing as follows: —Forbctt and another v. F. A. Parker, claim for £642 10--compensation.—Counsel said the case was only likely to be an application to enter up judgment. Frederick Shellan v. Richardson and Co. and N.Z. Shipping Co., claim for compensation of £lOOO will be heard to-morrow. Harry McLeod v. Angela E. Simeon, claim for £443 18 2. alleged to be due on a promissory note. —Hearing to take place to-morrow. Thomas W. Snow v. Lane and McCarthy, claim for £163 63. half commission on sale of land. —To be heard on Friday. The case of the Wanstead Road Board v. Morgan Davis, £ll5 for work done will also .be heard on Friday. Tire divorce case of McKinstry v. McKinstry will be taken on Saturday. Appeal cases will be taken on Saturday and the Gordon v. N.Z. Times case will come on for hearing on Monday.
