A BLUEJACKET’S FOLLY.
SEEKING CHEAP N TORIETY. (Received 16, 10.45 a.m.) Sydney, July 16. The deserter from the warship Drake has been recaptured and sentenced to a term of detention. He handed to the naval authorities a. statement that he and another were concerned in the murder of Leon Beiron, on Clapham Common, January Ist, 1911, and that Morrison, who is undergoing sentence for the crime, is not guilty. The authorities attach little importance to the confession, and consider the man is seeking for cheap notoriety. He was serving in the Home fleet at the time of the tragedy.
