CASUALTIES.
SERIOUS COACH ACCIDENT. (Received 6. 9.55 a.m.) Melbourne, Feb. 6. A coach capsized at Port Arlington. Fourteen passengers were injured, seven seriously. CHILD SLIGHTLY BURNED. Cyril, the three-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Currie, of Eastbourne street, Hastings, sustained slight burns through his pinafore igniting from a copper fire yesterday. The timely arrival of his mother saved the infant from more serious injuries. PAINFUL ACCIDENT. A painful accident befel Mr. Arthur Miller, of St. George’s road. Hastings. Whilst chopping firewood at the rear of his house a splinter flew up and lacerated the pupil of his left eye, causing injuries which will in all probability mean the loss of its sight. Dr. Barcroft is attending the sufferer. Mr. Miller is a recent arrival from Wellington, and a brother of Mr. T. Miller, also of St. George's road. STREET ACCIDENT. A horse harnessed to a spring trap bolted from opposite Jones’ butcher shop in Heretaunga street. Hastings, yesterday afternoon, and. in negotiating the turn into Market street collided with a telegraph pole. Miss Grover, of Southland road, the only occupant of the trap at the time of the mishap, was thrown on the road, but escaped serious injury. Both shafts of the vehicle were broken.
