[PER press association.] OUTBREAK AT PETONE. Wellington, Feb. 6. At 6 o’clock last night a fire broke out in the drying room of the Petone Woollen Mills and completely consumed its contents which were principally 7 dyed wool. Prompt action by Manager Ramsden’s sons, who were a little later assisted by the fire brigade, prevented the fire from spreading. The damage is estimated at only £ 100. BOARDING HOUSE AT ROTORUA. Rotorua. Feb. G. Rocky N ook bofti-ding house was partially gutted by 7 fire this morning. Very little furniture was saved. The building, which wan an old one, was owned by Mr. James Vaughan and occupied by Mr. Coleman. It was insured in the Sun office for £l9O. and the furniture in the Phoenix for £•120. Only two hoarders occupied tlie portion which was burnt. FATAL FIRE AT GRANITY. ’Westport, Feb. 6. The fire at Granity is responsible for a second death. James Martin. licensee (who was burnt while endeavouring to rescue his papers), died in the V.’estport Hospital this morning.
