ALLEGED CRUELTY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir. —I was witness yesterday afternoon to an ;ut of cruelty to a poor injured hors;-. It was attached by a rope round its head only - across its mouth and close behind its ears - to a loaded waggon at the rear of a traction •uiuinc train which included two long trucks. Tim driver anil his mate rode on the t nsiitte absolutely ignoring the suffering of the poor animal whose pitiable condition from a lamed fn nt leg disabled it from keeping up the puce, and at every step i; appear.-d as if it inu-t fall and be dragged along. I was not the only witness of thi< brutality, and I wondered much some of the men looking on and who knew there was such a s c nt intent as pity for unnecessary suffering in the human breast, did not come forward and rescue the disttessed creature. If there is not yet a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, it is high time one was formed. —I am, etc., SYMPATHY.
