SWIMMING.
THE MOELLER CUP.
The first of the Napier Swimming Club’s races this season foi* the Moeller Cup—a trophy donated by Mr. Frank Moeller for the winner of the most points during the season in races of all distances for members of the above club —was contested at the Municipal baths yesterday afternoon. The distance in this instance was 663 yards, and the race was closely contested. One competitor, who performed well in the second heat, was handicapped in the final by his costume becoming loose The final results, however, very’ accurately indicate the merit of the several swimmers Results: —
First heat. —A. Russell 1, J. Hannay 2, N. McCarthy 3. Time 4Hsec.
Second heat.—C. G. Moreland 1, F. Bridges 2, J. Stevens 3. Time 49 sec.
Final.—Russell (ssec.) 1. Bridges (scr.) and Hannay (Bsec.) 2. Time 49 4-ssec.
There were eighteen competitors
