At Ohakune last night Air. Jennings. member for Taumariinui, was presented with an illuminated address from liis constituents. Parts of the electorate are now included in other electorates. The member's services were highly eulogised. Mr. Jennings was presented with a silver tea service. The gathering was representative of the whole district.
A pleasant ceremony took place yesterday morning at Air. Briascu's umbrella factory, Napier, when presentations were made to Miss V. Chapman on her approaching marriage. The gifts from the staff consisted of silver-mounted set of carvers and a breakfast cruet, and Air. J. D. Briasco. on behalf of his wife and himself, asked Miss Chapman's acceptance of a silver afternoon tea service.
A cable ’message ftom England was received in Christ church yesterday announcing the death of Major G. Al. Hutton, a son of the late Captain F. W. Hutton, formerly curator of the Canterbury Museum. Major Hutton was educated in Christ-
church. He obtained a commission in the Royal Engineers, and -erved in the Boer war, where he gained tne D.S.O. distinction. His death was the result of an accident. He was 45 years of age.
