The Department of Justice has forwarded to the Hastings Borough Council a copy of the following rider to the verdict of the Coroner at the inquest held at Hastings on July 18th on the body of Wong Lee: —T desire to call the attention of the Hastings Borough authorities to the urgent need that there is for laying on water to the morgue and erecting a hand-basin therein connected with the water supply of the borough ;also, the table is unsuitable. I also direct attention to the untidy state of the morgue. Hans Sorensen, a native of Denmark, was arrested for drunkenness about noon at Hastings yesterday. Having completely recovered from his potations at 7 p.m. he was liberated on bail, but by 10 p.m. he had a gain absorbed more liquor than he could carry’ and once more he fell across the “long arm.” This morning he was brought before Mr. G. F. Roach, J.P. On the first charge he w T as convicted and discharged and on the second, a fine of 20/- with 2/- costs was inflicted.
