THE RETURNED EXPLORERS.
THEIR GREAT SUFFERINGS. (Received 22, 9.30 a.m.) Brisbane, Mar. 22. A steamer has been despatched to pick up the Hon. Staniforth Smith’s search parties, which are still out and are unaware of the party’s return. Mr: Smith said that after the disaster they were bootless and suffered terribly from ulcerated feet until they constructed boots from fibre. Speaking at a luncheon, Mr. Smith declared the equipment of the expedition was ample but for the mishaps on the river. If the coal discoveries were found to be reachable it would be via Strickland river.
